Sara has seventeen years of experience at Google, where she worked as a Site Reliability Engineer and manager, while also contributing to many side projects, primarily diversity and inclusion efforts, such as Disability Awareness, Bias Busting and Inclusive Offsites. She has contracted for the operations team at the Wikimedia Foundation and served as an advisor to the Ada Initiative, supporting women in open technology and culture. She is a lifelong learner and holds a BA in mathematics from Simon's Rock, an MA in philosophy from Tufts, a certificate in computational linguistics from San Jose State, and is on the board of the YP Math Foundation, which runs a summer math program for talented youth. Her computer interests include reliability & fault tolerance, systems engineering at scale, Linux, Python, Spanner, AI & tech ethics, open source, security/privacy, and pseudonymity. She is from the U.S. Virgin Islands, collects yellow pigs, and likes to swim, scuba dive, and read.
